Me!

The Road So Far

Going into college, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I knew social studies was always my favorite subject in school, so I decided to major in Social Science at Plymouth State University and figure it out from there. I spent three semesters there, and though I liked the classes I was taking, I didn’t love them. I also struggled with living in a dorm and felt like a total outsider. However, during this time I had a student worker position as an office assistant for the Social Science Department that I absolutely loved, because a lot of what I did was make flyers for various classes and events around campus.

One particular project was life-changing for me: one of my professors tasked me with designing a PSU-themed sticker for the Geography Club to sell as a fundraiser.

I had a blast with it and created seven different versions and had a great back-and-forth with the professor about what worked and what didn’t. Then, one day, a handful of the stickers I designed were sitting on my desk. It was the most amazing feeling! I could hold something I designed in my hands and put it on my water bottle and carry it with me!

After that, I decided I wanted to major in Graphic Design.

I had friends who were in SNHU’s online program, and after doing some research into their Graphic Design major I decided it was a good fit and transferred from PSU. I have loved every minute of it since. I have also designed a few logos and started a Redbubble shop to hone my design skills and develop some business skills. I was also the marketing intern at Seacoast Science Center this past summer! The moral of the story, kids, is that even if you think you’ll never find your life’s purpose, don’t give up hope because someday it might just hit you in the face like a ton of bricks and it will be the best thing you ever feel.
